Lacus Consulting’s team has over 25 years of experience in professional practices providing engineering services, specialising in Structural Civil and Aquatic Engineering.

Whether it be working with existing plant and structures to make more efficient systems or embracing new technologies and procedures, we thrive on working outside the square, ensuring new and existing technologies are proven prior to specification to provide the best possible solution to our clients.

We work with our clients to help make their goals be realised and we believe in regular dialogue throughout to ensure we are all on track to a successful project.

Being independent is important to us and we pride ourselves on remaining independent within the pool industry.  This permits us to provide non-biased advice to our clients.

Facility Audit Conditions

Visual and investigative inspections of existing facilities to provide advice on compliance with respect to the current regulations and codes.  Reporting includes DDA access to the pools and pool related facilities, access in and out of the pool and pool operation compliance.  We will review and advise on the performance of the pool filtration system, the chemicals being used and how the chemicals are being handled and stored on site.  Where necessary we can provide a list of items that require attention due to a perceived risk and provide an indication of cost to rectify.  This provides the owner with a shopping list of items requiring attention therefore enabling planning and budgeting of the works to be undertaken. 
  • Visual and non-destructive investigations on pool, pool shell, concourses, pool plant and chemical storage and handling.
  • Destructive testing which involves removing samples from concrete pool shells to determine the expected life within the pool shell. 
  • Plant Audits of pumps, filters, plumbing, plant performance, water usage and potential water saving methods.
  • Leak testing and leak identification.
  • Tiling, painted finishes, and membrane inspections.​
  • Structural and civil inspections of the facilities and surrounding pavements.
  • Preparation of proactive plant servicing, maintenance schedules and specifications.

​Refurbishment

Often facility audits will lead to facility refurbishment either of the entire site or components of the facility.  We will work with the client’s budget and requirements to ensure the maximum benefit is achieved with respect to improving facilities.  Often the scope of work has been already determined or, we can provide a reverse brief of the work that we understand is to be achieved.  Common refurbishment works undertaken include:
  • Plant upgrades and refurbishment.
  • Pool hydraulic upgrades to improve pool water quality.
  • Pool separation, evident in older pools where the learn to  swim pool is tethered to a 50m pool.
  • Concourses repairs/upgrades to improve drainage and slip resistance.
  • Pool hall refurbishment and extension, including wet deck  conversions to pools.
  • Construction administration and supervision services.
  • Compliant chemical delivery bunds with low changes in grades.

Lacus Consulting provides an independent review of project documentation during the design phases, and prior to going to tender to provide active feed back to the design consultancy team, reducing the client’s exposure to program and cost risks.
